After months of theory, TikTok has authoritatively propelled their premium-only music gushing benefit in Brazil and Indonesia.

With months of spills and gossipy tidbits, dating as distant back as May final year, TikTok’ parent company ByteDance has at long last propelled TikTok Music. To begin with, TikTok Music will as it were be accessible in two of the three nations ByteDance’s existing music spilling benefit Resso is accessible in – Brazil and Indonesia. Resso will be closing down in both Brazil and Indonesia from September 5. Endorsers can exchange their enrollments and library to TikTok Music.

What is TikTok Music?

At present, TikTok Music is mostly a rebrand of Resso, with existing features such as a large catalogue of music available for streaming, offline playback, mobile and desktop apps, a swipable music discovery feed, comments, collaborative playlists, real-time lyrics, lyric search, and Song Catch – a Shazam-style music identification tool.

Resso shut down their free model back in May earlier this year. TikTok Music is following suit, as a subscription-only music streaming service.

In terms of new features, as you can expect based on the new name, there’s more connection between the new music streaming service and TikTok. Users can sync their TikTok and TikTok Music accounts. There’s also a discovery feature, that highlights tracks that have gone viral on TikTok. Hopefully this tighter TikTok integration will help transform viral snippets into full-length streams.

Sony Music, who pulled their catalogue from Resso last September, are back on board, with their catalogue now available on both TikTok Music and Resso. There’s also music from major labels Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, as well as plenty of other indie labels, licensing agencies and distributors, like us!

Users can import their libraries and playlists from other streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.

How much is TikTok Music?

Brazil:
R$ 16.9 ($3.49) per month
Indonesia:
49,000 rupiah ($3.25) per month on iOS
44,900 rupiah ($2.96) per month on Android for the first year, then 49,000 rupiah

This pricing undercuts Spotify Premium in both countries, which is priced at R$ 19.90 in Brazil and 49,990 rupiah in Indonesia. However, with no free tier, TikTok Music may struggle to gain initial interest.
